Life Is Just So Daily

Thursday.

So Today is Thursday. My side hurts. My side was hurting last night. And, even though my side hurt last night, I was productive. I threw on my sweats & unpacked two whole boxes. I even put some family pictures out. :)

I watched Gilmore Girls & Judging Amy. I saved them to PVR earlier this week.
Then I watched the Apprentice (gosh, I love that show!)

Then I got in bed.

That's it. uneventful evening.

My dad flew in yesterday & arrived around 7 last night. He spent the night at my grandparents' house. Hopefully I'll get to see him tonight or tomorrow night for sure.

I'm supposed to see Mom on Sunday & she said she'd make me some snickerdoodles. Oh, I cant wait!!!!!

So...just when I thought today was going to suck...

I got a 6% raise.
Woohooo for today!
Of course, it doesnt go into effect until October 6th or 7th...but who cares? I got it! Yippy! Go me!!

Hello Monday....

Well, it's Monday.

How was the weekend? Well, I spent it trying to save the Princess. No kidding. I probably spent 20 hours this weekend trying to save the princess. My dad sent Damon & I this video game thing with 76 different games on it.
I could not stop myself. We played Tetris, Pacman, and Super Mario Brothers. Now, when I was a kid, we had a Nintendo. I saved the princess a lot. Now that I'm older...my mario skills are a little rusty. I cant seem to get past the 8th world. Oh, we are such geeks. We stayed home on Friday & Saturday nights playing video games!!! LOL!
Oh well...we had fun.

Weekend movie reviews...
*Murder in the First...it's about Alcatraz...very, very good.
*Mean Girls...with Lindsey Lohan. I thought it was cute. Luckily, I watched it without Damon. He would have just made fun of me for liking it. It's a teeny-bopper movie about how mean & back stabbing high school girls can be.

That's all for now.

It's Tuesday! ....going to be a busy week...

Okay, it's Tuesday.
Update: I finally started my period. Hoooorah hormones! The bad news, I have cramps like a MUTHA!
But, I have to say...with regard to the "female problem", something really sweet happened last night. My dad called & I talked to him for a bit. Then Damon talked to him for a bit. And, I was sitting right there, so I could hear what they were talking about. So, apparently my dad asked about how I was doing, was I feeling better, glad the hormones were helping...etc. It was really weird & sweet to hear my dad & my husband discussing my "female problem". I know that they both love me, and it's about my health & well-being in general...it's just that prior to my dad having a daughter, I dont think he would have ever really discussed the female uterus or ovaries, etc. Prior to Damon having a wife, he probably never even said the words "uterus" & "ovary". So, it was just sweet & weird & humorous.

It's going to be a busy week. Tomorrow after work I have to go over to Baylor to learn this new computer program. They are finally moving to computerized charting. Yeehaw! It's about time. I'm excited about learning something new...and I definitely type faster than I write...but at the same time. I dont want to go. I'm just stingy with my down time I guess.

Thursday will be fine. Friday will be fine. Then, on Saturday I work ER days at Baylor. I miss the staff over there a lot, so it is nice to go back & work every now & then. On the whole, I dont miss the patients! Except, trauma. I love the hustle & bustle of fresh trauma cases rolling through the door. I cant help it. We all get an adrenaline rush. It's wonderfully fast! And, I said something to someone here in the ER where I work full time..I said something about missing trauma cases & the rush you get. She said something like, "nobody should enjoy the trauma cases..." etc. She went on & on. Here's what I think...trauma cases are going to happen. As long as we have cars, motorcycles, guns, knifes, planes, boats, horses, dogs, glass....okay, you name it...as long as we have all those things--there are going to be trauma incidents. Dr.Foreman, one of the trauma docs, and a man that I totally respect, refuses to use the phrase MVA. He says that there are no accidents. He says there are collisions caused by human error. I just think it's funny. So there are unintentional events & intentional events. Those two things come together to create trauma. And, none of us are "sick" because we enjoy the rush of things. We are all in there helping. Whether it's the nurse keeping records, the tech starting IV lines, the x-ray techs, the doctors running the show, or me, going through the patient belongings trying to ID the John Does...we're all working together, very quickly... It's a rush. And when we're successful, it's a sense of accomplishment.

Anyway...I'm off my soap box about that...

What else is going on....talked to my sister in law last night. Our nephew, Josh, was just named Captain of the football team. He plays linebacker. His sister, Jordan, made Varsity Cheerleader as a freshman (...just unheard of!) & was just named to the Homecoming Court. At her school, the Seniors get to vote for who's in the running for Homecoming Queen. Then, the Juniors, Sophomores, & Freshmen get to vote 2 girls from their respective class to be Homecoming Princesses. Well, Jordan was selected as one of the Freshman Homecoming Princesses. She is just tickled pink!!!

Jordan's birthday is this Saturday. She has a boyfriend named Adam. Well, we call him Adam Schmaddem. No idea what his last name really is.... Damon just calls him "Punk". Oh, he's so protective. It's funny really. Anyway...back to my story. Adam is going to give Jordan a ring for her birthday. my sister in law says that it has a pink stone in the center, and two diamonds on the sides. He even asked Jordan's dad ahead of time if he could give it to her as a "friendship ring". Is that not the cutest thing you've ever heard of! They are 15 & 16 years old.

...Recent Movies...
* Man on Fire: Oh My Gosh!!! This movie was sooooo good. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it! Damon wants to own it. It's just that good.
* The Big Bounce: Not worth the $4 it cost to rent it.
* Laws of Attraction: okay...typical romantic comedy...no biggie.
* The Missing: very good. Slow to get started, but when it does, it's great.

If you cant tell...we're big movie people.

Over the weekend...I straightened up around the house a bit. Knocked out a ton of laundry. seriously, I have yet to figure out how we generate so much trash & dirty laundry. Well, the trash...I blame it on junk mail & my husband's inability to part with paper in general. The dirty laundry...well I guess it piles up because of laziness.
Let's discuss laundry for a moment...I dont mind doing it. It's the folding that's not so much fun, and the putting away that is even worse. I hate putting away clean clothes almost as much as I hate unloading clean dishes from the dishwasher.

We also cleaned out the storage unit over the weekend. Went surprisingly well until the end...the battery on the truck was dead because Damon left his key turned over in the ignition while the hazards were on. Totally drained the battery. Megan came to the rescue! Ahhhh, the joys of friendship! I'd gladly do the same for her & she knows it!!!

Oh, on Friday a package came to the house. It's something I ordered for Damon as a Christmas gift. Way back when I ordered it--I told him not to open any packages that came to the house. Does he listen?? Well, maybe at the time he did, but by last Friday, he forgot. So, he opened it. Good thing for me--he loved the gift. What was it??? The Sopranos Trivia Game. Damon loves trivia games, and he loves the Sopranos. We played it twice over the weekend. The first time, I creamed him!!! The second time, he won by about 10 points. It was pretty close... Anyway--it's a ton of fun. And, they had a Sex & the City trivia game too. I just might have to order that one as well....

Okay, I'm out of here. I need to get my day started!

We Got Robbed.

I'm so upset. I had nightmares all night.
Damon has a trailer that he uses for his job. He carries his inventory in there.

Well, while he was helping his best friend load his U-Haul b/c he's moving to Georgia--someone broke into my husband's trailer & stole lots & lots of stuff.

We had it locked.

I know--if someone wants to steal something from you, they will. They will find a way. That's exactly what happened.

We are in the process of tearing down this ugly carport that was on our house when we bought it, and having a garage built--so we could enclose our cars & the trailer.
You know, to protect ourselves from this very thing!!

Well, anyway...Damon's inventory is due today. All last weekend & this week we've been out in his trailer checking sku #s on boxes, checking everything off...taking inventory. It's a project that sucks & Damon really hates it. I know how much he hates it--so I've been helping him with it.

Now, between $5800-$7000 worth of stuff is missing. Damon left his inventory sheet @ his office yesterday, so when we got home & discovered what happened, we werent able to adequately assess exactly what was missing.

Furthermore--at his company, he is responsible for his inventory. What is not accounted for at the date/time of the inventory check is ultimately his responsibility. He of course called his boss immediately. Called the cops. The cops came out & fingerprinted, but the only ones they found were mine & his. Cops found glove marks--and Damon never uses gloves when going in/out of the trailer...

Damon is so upset. Not sure what is going to happen today at work. He's never been short on inventory. Knows he's responsible for it.

We know that we're going to have to file on homeowner's...but we're afraid that they are going to drop us.

It's just so stressful. I hate this.
And, if we have to pay $7000 out of pocket now...well, first of all--let me just say--we cant. We cant afford to pay that entire amount. And, if we do have to pay it--there goes the $$ we were using for the garage construction.

It just breaks my heart. You should see my Damon's eyes. I know that on one level he is absolutely mad...furious... but then you can also just see this huge amount of sadness & worry in his eyes.

Ugh. This sucks, this sucks, this sucks.

And, we've lived here for 2 months. This is the second incident. Well, this one is felony theft. Originally, our scooter was stolen. But, it was not worth enough to make it a felony. Now this time it is a felony.
Big freakin' whoop. The stuff is still gone. We still got robbed.

We need a new backyard fence. We need the 2 car, one trailer/boat garage. We need better lighting. We need speed bumps in our neighborhood. We need TXU to come out & trim some of the damn trees so that the lights that are installed actually give off enough light.

That's it. I'm writing my council member. ....not that I fully expect it to do a whole hell of a lot. And let me further state--Laura Miller. I am absolutely disgusted by her at this point. Lots & lots of issues...I wont get into that here or now, but she's the freaking mayor of Dallas & she sucks.

I am ready for the burbs. I just had to have this house. I got it. I just had to live in the city of Dallas. I got that too. So far, it doesnt feel so great to have gotten my way.

I'm pissed. I'm out.

teeheehee...how funny!

Hormone therapy...

Okay, so I started my "hormone therapy" last night. Let me start by saying that I feel like I could throw up at any minute. I dont want to smell coffee, bacon, or any other breakfast item right now! I have to take these pills twice a day with food. I dont want food. It stinks & makes me want to throw up!

Onto the funnier stuff....
I went to Eckerd's & picked up my medicine. Like the little nerd that I am--I have to read the entire little Rx advisor that comes with my medicine. Hey--I've never taken this before, and I want to be informed! And, I have to read it while there so that I can ask the Pharmacist any questions that I may have. Again, I reiterate, I am a nerd.

So...let me just post a few things from this Rx advisor....
"...can cause cancer of the breast, heart disease, heart attack, stroke, dementia, blood clots in the lungs & legs, & ovarian cancer."
"You may experience absence of menstrual periods while using this medicine."
"This medicine may cause dark skin patches on your face."
"This medicine may affect your blood sugars."
"Side effects that may go away during treatment include dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, stomach upset, or bloating."
"Check with your doctor immediately if you experience mental/mood changes, memory loss, breast tenderness, weight change, swelling of your fingers, swelling of your ankles, calf/leg pain &/or swelling, trouble breathing, chest pain, sudden severe headache, fainting, abnormal vaginal bleeding, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, abdominal pain, abdominal swelling, abdominal tenderness, vomiting, vision problems, or begin coughing up blood."

Okay...so who's super-excited about taking these pills????
Note the sarcasm...

Netflix & recent movies....

Okay, so we do the Netflix thing. Love it. Love everything about it!

Recent movies, and what I think about them...

LadyKillers: has Tom Hanks. That seemed promising. Movie was okay. It was slow. It was predictable. I give it an "okay".

Jersey Girl: has Ben Afflek, J-Lo, & Liv Tyler. Precious. Very cute. I'd definitely watch it again.

Butterfly Effect: with Ashton Kutcher. Bizarre, but awesome. Loved it!

Godsend: has Robert DeNiro...again, AWESOME!

Taking Lives: with Angelina Jolie. Pretty good. Predictable, but still a pretty good little thriller.

okay...that's all for now.

Update.

This may be TMI for lots of people....but here goes.

Well, I had my doctor's appointment on Thursday @ 3:45...Got out of there well
after 7.
The good news: I dont have an ectopic pregnancy.
The bad news: I am not pregnant at all. I have a "growth" on my right ovary.
Looks like a "complex cyst with interior walls". It's about the size of a
walnut my doctor says.
Those who've known me for years--know that I've had ovarian cysts before.
This one is different because of it's "complexity". It is interfering with
my hormone levels. It is not blocking bloodflow to my right ovary, so that's
good. It does not appear to be blocking my fallopian tube, but has stopped
me from ovulating on the right side & the abnormal hormone levels are
preventing me from having a period....which made us think we were pregnant. We were disappointed with the first negative pregnancy test....so then we repeated it a few days later....then I had a blood pregnancy test...all negative.

My doctor doesnt want to do surgery on the cyst now because it's been growing since July & is only the size of a walnut. The doctor says that my body will hopefully
reabsorb the cyst & it wont need to be removed at all. He says that
he is going to start me on hormone therapy to start my period, and hopefully
it will also start shrinking the cyst. We'll look at the cyst again in
October. If the cyst grows in diameter or density by October, my doctor says
that we will remove it.

The other bad news...my doctor does not think we should start planning a
family for a minimum of 6 months, but he really thinks we should wait about
a year before we start trying. He wants my body to be a "desirable
environment" for a baby...(thus reducing my chances of ectopic preg &/or
miscarriages). Great. Telling this to the most impatient girl in the world!
And what is that phrase: "desirable environment". I'm desirable dammit!!! We're talking prime real estate in this uterus!!!!

...excuse me...that's really gross for some to read...
oh well, I think it's funny.

Okay, so hormone therapy. Well, Eckerd's had to order the drug, and I get to pick it up today after work. They originally thought that they had it there in the store but only in generic. Well, they were wrong & ordered it for us. So, I get to start it tonight. The doctor already told me to warn my husband. So--he's been warned.
I'll keep the blog posted on our progress...

Beer & Poker...a decor theme for the kitchen these do not make!

To my husband:

I do not live in a Frat House. I never have aspired to live in a Frat House.
Beer & Poker...yes, I am sure that many men would agree these go together very well. Add a few pizzas, cigar smoke, & some buddies & you'd really have it all! But these dreams you have of turning our kitchen into your own personal gambling room...well you just need to give up. You will not win. Grow up. At least pretend to be a grown up. Your beer bottle collection, though important to you, has no place in the kitchen where you expect me to prepare nutritious meals.

I win, you lose. Move the poker table. Put away the cards. Get the beer bottles out of sight. For heaven's sake--we have company coming over!

Love,
Your wife.
