Stuck inside? Nevahhhhh!!!!!

I am determined to get this blog caught up to real time!

So....it snowed here. (a while ago now....) We had snow days.

Daddy got a make-over.

Eliette's also a hairstylist (though, as her client you are subjected to her limited styling skills and plastic cutlery as the tools of her trade).

...and nails.... She's clearly a full service salon!

While snowed in, there was some hardcore gaming going on...

...and little hide-and-seek (Mommy's least favorite game, though these little sweet feet were pretty fun to find)....
(In the above pic: elbow peeking out on the left, itty bitty feet on the right. So cute!)

Snow days... So fun when you're little.

Get Your Mind Out of the Toilet!

When this third grade boy is given the assignment of researching an invention and inventor, what does he do? He chooses the flushing toilet.

The narrative portion of his "advertisement" is in the toilet bowl, and then it was colored blue don't you know? "It's the water." I'm pretty proud of his creativity. If you look very closely, you can see his toilet paper roll to the right of the toilet.

Well done, son!

...and clearly we had to sit ON the potty to showcase the project for the pictures. Love him!

Round 1, Continued.....

Let me just tell you----Round 1 of the tummy bug LINGERED. Brother started to not feel well. Luckily, he didn't have it as bad as Sister.

But, just when we thought she was on the mend, the symptoms would start up again.
Finally, the doctor gave us Zofran for off-label use of 1/2 a melty at a time. It's such an EASY delivery method, and yet, Sister hated it and somehow found the strength of an ox to fight us when it was time to take it.

Brother? Video games and hydration helped.

Eventually the symptoms slowed down for both of them, and we were FINALLY on the mend. Little did we know that this would still just be Round 1 of the Tummy Bug. (though, really, it was probably two different tummy bugs for 2015 or two different strains of the Norovirus, but hind sight is 20/20, and it doesn't really matter at this point....)

Sister was a lethargic weakling at her first tummy virus visit to the dr, where we ran though all 5 diapers in the diaper bag. This time, she was clearly feeling MUCH better.

What's she doing in the above picture? Throwing away some trash, and then naturally she took to PLAYING with the trash can, and this may actually be a photo of her contracting the virus for Round 2 from the doctor's office. (Yes, I heavily sanitized  her hands right after this picture. )

And then what happened? As I was setting up her well-child visit and checking out, she treated the sucker basket as her own personal taste-test station. She tasted all of the yellow ones and then threw them away. They were opened, stuck in her mouth, and promptly thrown away. I had to stop her! She was fast! She tore through four before I could handle on it. Silly Nilly Girl....

Needless to say, she took one for the road and was a sticky mess by the time we got home. Hot Mess Eliette. Gotta love her.

"Dollars for Doggies."

Or, "Cash for Cats" ....or "Coins for Kitties"....

So, I'm in this group in our area. It's an Early Childhood PTA. We have monthly meetings, monthly philanthropy support, kid activities, and small playgroups....

Anyway....at the monthly meetings, someone signs up for table decor, and I kind of run wild with that. I can't help myself! I love it. Usually on my kiddo birthday party themes, I go all out, so this stuff is just fun and entertaining for me.

So this one particular month, the philanthropy was the local animal shelter. I carried that over into the table decor.

We have kind of a potluck every meeting and various people bring brunch items.

Now----behind the scenes of all of this fun decor, my husband deserves a MOUNTAIN of credit.
Who made the dog houses out of cardboard? My husband.
Who made the doggies out of twisty balloons? My husband.
Sooo....this week in particular, the speaker was a local personality from a faith based radio station that I listen to. I was soooo excited!
Sadly, it was a time of rampant illness around here, and the meeting wasn't as full as it normally is. Eliette didn't get to go---she was still recovering and we didn't want her spreading germs or catching something else.... So, I was solo that day. Still, I'm so glad that I got to go!

Round 1.

Tummy Bug, Spring 2015, Round 1.
Her Valentine's Day card from Darnin & PawPaw happened to come at that time too...
Now, let me say---my child is thin on an average day. This bug? Wiped her out, and more than once we were on the verge of going to the ER for hydration.

This next picture: FREAKS me out with how skinny she looks!
Poor baby girl.
{I can say now that even though she's still thin, she doesn't look ill/gaunt/emaciated like she does in the above pic.}

The cling-to-mommy phase lasted a few days. The sling helped!

Sister eventually got a bit better....though a full recovery took a while.

Czar certainly helped her get well.
In no time, she was back to her little sassy self.

Bitty Girl.

Our sweet little girl is so tiny, but she has a BIG personality. I see her every day, and I know how little she was when she was a newborn. Sometimes I forget how tiny she still is for her age. And then I see pictures like this.... Mommy's itty bitty snuggle bug. She's "Bitty Girl."

Happy Valentine's Day!

How we spent our Valentine's night: hosting dinner for these gentlemen and a little lady.
How many dates did you have for Valentine's, Eliette? More than she could shake a stick at! {Such a Southern expression, am I right?}

We had home-made pizza....ran out of pizza, and then had to order pizza!
Oh, these boys. I mean to tell you---we have hit the point where the appetites are definitely increasing. Two large pizzas to feed 6 boys? That's no longer enough. Crazy.... They're just growing boys.

The conversation at the table was hilarious. They were seriously discussing dragon farts. No lie. "Do you think there are flames that come out, or just puffs of bad smelling air?"  May I never forget this age!

"Fart." Not a word we've used too often here at the Casa de Lainey Paney. It's just not. Gage just recently 'graduated' to using it. "Mom, it's not cool to say 'toot.' Nobody in the third grade says that." {Well, maybe you guys shouldn't spend so much time talking about flatulence!} So, I've lost the battle against "fart." ...such is life.

He's growing up.
It's both wonderful and scary. Exciting and sad all at the same time.
