For M'Witty...
A friend of mine is looking for a job...went on an interview, and was then told that she would not be getting an offer for the position b/c she is too smart and over qualified. I think I've come up with the perfect response:
"Oh, I'm sorry....did you just say that I'm TOO SMART for this job? Good, that's what I thought you said. I'll be sure to email your job posting to every dumb-ass moron I know. Hopefully you'll find some idiot to fill the position."

Wow, I've never heard that one before. I wish your friend luck. And if your friend was told that, that definitely isn't a place she wants to be at anyway. What a compliment to be over qualified. At least she won't be settling for less.
Directly out of college I applied and interviewed for a couple of admin positions, I was told this and it ticked me off to no end. If I WANT a job that is UNDER my abilities, why the heck should they care?

Absolutely beautiful. I hate when I hear that response because I think it's just a way to excuse not paying people what they are worth.
Then again, I once took a job as a receptionist about died I was so bored.
