Life Is Just So Daily

Just Go Away.

So, I'm sitting on the couch, and I see a man from the electric company walking in our yard.

I made a bee-line for the front door b/c I thought he was going to ring the doorbell, and Gage is down for a nap. He said that he's been sent out to replace our meter. He already located it on our property.

Basically, I told him no---I had not been contacted by the electric company for this, and furthermore---the baby is asleep in that part of the house. I asked why the electric company did not contact me regarding this matter......he's not sure. I told him that he can either come back later or tomorrow, but that right now is not a good time for my family, and asked that he leave.

So he did. He said that he can either return after 3:30 today, or return tomorrow. Fine whatever.

Then I call the electric company to confirm that he is who he says he is, and that they show that we're getting a new meter, etc. He had the uniform, and the truck & everything...but can you really be too sure? Here in the metroplex they just recently busted some guys dressed as law enforcement in a car painted like the regular law enforcement cars....you just can't be too careful. Anyway--Yes...they confirmed that we're supposed to be getting a new meter....but they kind of acted like I was weird for wanting to confirm that before I allow him on my property. To which I responded, "look---I don't care if y'all think I'm weird or not. I have a man here who says that he is with your company & he is here to give me something that I never asked for, and you never told me was coming. So before this man does ANYTHING at my house, you need to confirm that it's been ordered & that you have a technician assigned to it, or it won't get done." So....they did. Yes, it's ordered...etc.

AND THEN.................they try to get me to upgrade my service.

To which I said...."I pay for the electricity I use & all the fees that you guys tack on there. I don't want upgraded super-charged electricity. But thanks."

Ugh.
I really just think that anytime they are going to send someone to MY house---they need to let me know. Seriously. Granted, the actual meter is their property (right? I don't know...) But showing up at random & just walking around on my property...he's lucky my dog didn't get him!

"Hi, I'm Eddie. I like to eat trespassers...and if my Mama didn't know you were coming, that's trespassing in my book, and I will eat you."

yeah...we mostly leave our home phone unplugged so it won't wake the baby.

Damon wants to get rid of it altogether, but somehow I feel like we need it....

I'm unfriendly like that too. I turn the ringers off. And how do you upgrade your energy?

You never can be too safe. I probably would have done the same thing.

I would have never let them on to change something. There are so many scams these days and weirdos trying to break in and just damage property...I would have called them too!

And what do you to do upgrade your electricity? It's not like there are new features for you to choose!

Upgarde your service to what? They should offer you a discount instead, those big turkeys!

We here in Chicago had a guy who worked for the cable company kill 2 women. You did the right thing, you can never be too careful.

Good thinking and wise move on your part.

And isn't it great having a huge dog to scare away strangers at the door?
My dog's bark is ferocious but he wouldn't (and hasn't ever) hurt a flea.

I WUV your puppy!

I have 2 springers who alert me if ANYONE is close to my yard, especially the 2 year old pup.

And don't feel awkward about calling - I'd do the same thing. In today's world, you can NEVER be too safe!

You can never be too safe!

I about beat the crap out of the last person who pounded on my door when the sign covering the doorbell clearly states "knock." Nobody wakes my kid and lives to regret it!

It startles me when the meter guy shows up too. Usually, he just checks it and leave, but I hate having someone walking around my yard as they please!

It's really good that your checked. In this crazy world you can never be too sure.

By the way I just got rid of my home phone and living just off my cell phone. So far so good! I'm saving about $700 a year! So far so good here. Think about it!

I don't blame you for calling to find out if he was legit or not - especially when you weren't expecting it!

Thanks for taking the time to leave me birthday wishes!

You were very smart to confirm that, so screw them. ;-)
