First Grade Funnies...

Gage's class put together the best little keepsake book. All of the 1st grade classes did it, and it's just such a cute idea!

The kids were each given the beginning of a saying/phrase, and they had to complete it and draw a picture. I'm telling you, this book is so funny!

Gage's phrase: "Smile and the World..."

{Nooooo.....we don't watch Duck Dynasty! Not at all..... hahahaha}

Okay, so back to the book: on the adjacent page, the kiddos wrote little paragraphs about themselves...
There were so many funny pages...
If the shoe fits...buy it!
People who live in glass houses...shouldn't sleep by the windows.
Let sleeping dogs....dream about dog treats.

So fun.
I'm sooooo glad that we have this keepsake from his class.
Love it, love it, love it!

First Grade Awards

Gage had an end-of-the-year singing and awards program at his school. He was excited to have his sister attend this year.
:)
She was only two weeks old, so I wasn't so sure about taking her into a class of germy first graders....but ultimately, we just went for it.

I don't have any pics of the singing program that was in the cafeteria. Have to say: one of my favorite songs that they sang: "Pretty Mama" to the tune of "Pretty Woman." It was a song for the mommies and I loved it!

Pics from the awards portion back in his classroom...

Gage got lots and lots of awards including an award from the principal.
:)

Family pics from the awards program...

We will miss Mrs.H, his first grade teacher, and we will miss that school. Gage will be going to a new school next year, and who will he miss the most? The librarian! He loved his librarian and loved going to the library every Thursday. Such a cute thing....

Truth be told, I think she'll miss him too!

Zoo Trip!

The whole first grade at Gage's school recently took a field trip to the Dallas Zoo. I'm in no way trying to walk around the zoo at this point in my pregnancy, so Daddy chaperoned in my place.

I'd love to share a bazillion pictures with you.....but like I mentioned, Daddy chaperoned. He's not the family photographer... In fact, I have two photos: one sent to me from Hubby, and one sent to me from a girlfriend who was also on the zoo trip...

I think Gage was really happy that it was his Daddy who went. Daddy works and Mommy rarely works any more... So, Mommy gets to do the school stuff, and Daddy doesn't get to nearly as much. It's always a special treat for Gage when it's Daddy.... and he seems to be entering...or at the point where he wants to do things with Daddy, just the two of them.... I don't know if it's because I'm pregnant, or just his natural progression..... Anyway...it was wonderful for both of them that they got to share that and make memories.

...and for fun, here's part of a conversation about it: Gage said, "There weren't hardly any daddies on the trip..... The other mommies liked Daddy."
And of course Hubby jokingly follows that up with "yeah, they did."
{insert eye roll and smile...}

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle...

Gage had an assignment at school to recycle things from around your home or trash, and make something out of it. Luckily, the directions did not read, "make something functional out of it."

So....Gage made a remote control robot from stuff around the house. I helped him brainstorm with items around here and we came up with a drawing/plan. Daddy helped with the actual assembly of the robot, as that was Gage's request... "No, I want Daddy to do it!" {Where is this coming from!? *sniff*sniff*}

Pics....

The final product:
...and my husband would like the world to know that he doesn't spend ALL of his time in white undershirts. He feels that perhaps he is disproportionately represented here as one who forever wears his undies around the house. To note, he has nice clothes. He wears them to work. Then he comes home and gets comfortable. Just so y'all know....

Hubby's Real Birthday....Art Show.

On Hubby's actual birthday, we had an Art Show at Gage's school to attend. While we were invited to participate in a fundraiser where Gage was going to get to meet some REAL Navy Seals, we had to opt out because of the school art show and the birthday plans.
{But thank you, thank you, thank you for the invite, Amanda! We'll definitely take a rain check!}

Pics from the Art Show, 2013....
After the school function, we headed downtown for dinner as a little family of 3. It was very nice. Hubby had a steak that was to-die-for! For me to say that about a steak---well, it's practically unheard of! ....especially with my current meat aversion....

Happy Birthday, Hubby!
You'll always be older than me....

Star Student

Gage is the Star Student in his class this week. Last night, we got to work on his Star Student Poster. Here it is....

Please notice:
1. Gage now has two pets: a fish & a dog. Turdy was released into our neighborhood pond this past weekend. No, there are no pictures of it because I didn't go, and it was just Daddy & Gage. Daddy said that they put him down, and by the time he was ready for pictures, Turdy was gone into the water!
2. Last year, Gage wanted to be a rockstar when he grows up. Now, he wants to be a Navy Seal.
3. His artwork: those are wrestlers. We don't watch wrestling. Somehow he likes wrestling though, and he gets books about wrestlers from the library. Boys....

Class Party!

Gage's class V-Day party was on 2/15 (who DOES that??? who schedules these parties for the day after the event when the kids were in school on the actual holiday??? Gage's school....that's who).

Pics from the party prep work....I volunteered to make the cupcakes....

But then, my little cupcake toppers wouldn't stay open like they were supposed to. So, I resorted to super glue, and I was soooooo thankful that I happened to have some on hand! That almost never happens....
Then what? Party craft prep work. The kiddos were to cut paper hearts and write on them something that they love. Then, they'd each hang their heart on the "Let Love Grow" class tree.

I had to make the tree....So, Hubby cut the branches for me. I had to go buy some coffee so that I would have a coffee can to use!

Transporting the "tree" to school was fun....(yeah, right!)

Pics from the party....

The chaotic classroom....

Our tree was a hit!
The kids enjoyed the craft.
:)
...and THIS little boy had a super-full goody-bag, and he was all kinds of hopped up on sugar!
Mommy's little Happy Boy! He LOVES Valentine's Day!

Gingerbread Party!

We were invited to a friend's Gingerbread Party.
This party was to start 30 minutes after school let out on the last day of school before Winter Break. That day was sooooo full!

Back story to this: Amy & I got together on Monday to put the gingerbread houses together so that the kids could do the fun part: the decorating. Waiting hours for royal icing to dry is not much fun.
....not even for us moms! So, we hot glued 'em. Yeah....that's how we roll. Who wants to eat that super hard gingerbread anyway???

The Gingerbread Party: AWESOME!

There was even a super fun photo booth set up!

That's me & Amy there... We had a lot of fun, and Amy's super creative and makes a lot of fun stuff for the kiddos to do. She's awesome like that....
