San Antonio Trip....Part IV.
On Sunday, after the caverns & panning for gems & gold, we went to this WildLife Safari place. It's one of those drive-through-feed-the-animals type of things.
We laughed.our.asses.off.
Truly.
I never expected to have so much fun, but we did. We had a blast!
The zebras were little black & white punks. They look all exotic, and they'll let you pet them...but as soon as you stop feeding them---they start chewing on your car. Punks, I tell ya.
The donkey was the BEST!
Here we were at the WILDLIFE safari, and the DONKEY was the best.
Caption for this: Say Cheese!
{doesn't that above pic look like 'Donkey' from Shrek!?}
It really was SUCH a great adventure. We laughed & laughed. Gage had a blast, and we loved watching his excitement.
After that---the Snake Farm. The one featured on Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. I have to report a few things about this place: (1) Mike Rowe wasn't there, (2) It wasn't nearly as up-close & cool in person as it was on the show, (3) It was a 'snake pit' both literally & figuratively.
Now, in defense of the place---they do have a wide variety of animals to see. And,
animals can be messy, so maybe that was part of it. But the whole place just seemed kind of...dirty. And you can't help but feel sorry for all the animals in there living in these cages. But, they have food, water, and shelter...so...I dunno. It just didn't seem like a great place.
The peacock was cool.
The petting zoo with baby animals was fun for all of us. (Except for the dead little piggie off in the corner...which was kind of a downer...)
After that: a record-quick trip to & through the Alamo. Seriously---of people who actually got out of the car to see the Alamo, we just might hold the record for doing it the quickest.
Photography is not allowed inside of the Alamo, just so you know.
Gage HATED the Alamo; Loved the Alamo gift shop. {of course}
Gage got a blue snow cone outside of the Alamo, which kept him content until we returned to the hotel, and it was time to spend our evening like this:
After that, we had to break for dinner.
After dinner---Gage & I returned to the pool while Daddy rested in the hotel room. We swam until the pool closed at 10 o'clock.
And then we all turned in for the night.
It was a great day....

Wow, all the pictures from your trip look great. Gage is so lovely, his face is so expressive...
One man’s (woman’s) idea of fun is another’s nightmare - I would have freaked at those animals being anywhere near the car!
I have been wanting to go to that safari for years but hubby says it is boring. I am going to make him read this post...and take us!
Oh the Wildlife Ranch is THE BEST!!!! You can drive around and around and around and get out at the restaurant and petting zoo, see the giraffes...love that! Did the ostrichs attack you? We call it the island of misfit animals, because it seems like all the horned animals are all a bit "off" - backwards horns, some turned, etc. That donkey was my facebook status picture in January!
Now, as for the Snake Farm, not my fave, but my boys love it. However, at that point, you were ONE EXIT AWAY FROM MY HOUSE! Just sayin!
Love the donkey pics.
