Mom of the Year; working toward 2009 Title.

So...it's really never too early to start earning my title as 2009 Mom of the Year, right?

Remember this guy?

You know the one---my son?

Yes well....remember how he broke his clavicle, and we took him to the Pedi Ortho doc on Friday? Well....remember how we were told to avoid all activities which may result in a fall?

Yeah, well, um....
He fell.

So....this little fall incident took place in the bathroom.
We've been working on potty training.
He was all ready to use the "big potty" on Friday night... He had his little stool pulled up next to the potty. We pulled his pants down (but avoided the complete undress for toileting which he sometimes insists upon...). He stood there on his stool preparing to use the potty....leaning forward....then WHAM! He leans forward too much, the stool slides out from under him, he falls foward into the potty with his left shoulder/clavicle area landing smack dab on the rim of the bowl.
SON OF A B*TCH! [Not him of course---the situation!]

He was a crying, hurt mess.
I was freaked.
I immediately paged the doc on call, expecting the worst, and expecting to head back up to the ER for another x-ray...
By the time the doc on call called back---Gage was happy again, had been playing with toys, and then was tucked into bed.
On call doc wasn't too worried.
So then---I wasn't either.
But----MAN!

If we keep going like this---it's going to be a very.loooong.healing process!

Awwww poor Gage. Broken bones are never fun and I can't even imagine it with a 3 year old. Hope your buddy feels better soon!

Poor kid can't catch a break....uhh no pun intended there haha! It seems no matter what he's destined to take a spill with his broken clavical!

Oh No! I hope he feels better real soon. Also, aside from that one incident, how goes it with potty training? Big Boy only goes if he wants gummies. Arghhh!! Also, thank you! We are excited about the third.

Man, can you pad his room and just leave him in there? Nah - he'd find a way to hurt himself in there, too!

So sorry you guys are going through this - they do heal quickly, though, so hopefully you'll survive the next few weeks!

OH MY GOSH!!! That is crazy. I think the doctor should have never said to avoid falls....he would have been fine! =) Better luck to little Gage-Man!

oh no! poor gage! poor mama! it's unfortch that these things happen and even more when it's as they are about to overcome some quirk they've developed like not using the potty or not going to be when they are supposed to (that's ellie's "quirk").

so glad he's so resilient!

To Gage, you'll be Mom of the Year every year. But, yeah, this could be a particularly long one - for both of you!

Welcome to having a son! But I'm glad he didn't have any lasting effects from it.

I work for an ortho doc, in the billing area, but nothing hurts me more than when he's seeing the little kiddies and they're so scared and crying. :o(
Glad he's okay!

Sending hugs to you!

oh my! Poor you and poor little Gage... HUGS!

I beleive potty training will just come...no need rushing it. Gage has lots on his plate and the less pressure you and he have around the potty the better...you are an amazing mom and you can read his signs and when he is ready and willing, it will all come together.

Hey - I posted some bloggy-bling for you on my blog - well deserved!!!
