I cannot stand it when....

....people use the word, "conversate". Okay...the word should be "converse", not "conversate."

....when I can hear others eat.

There are many many more, but those are going on right now, so they are on my mind right now...

What can you not stand?

I have never heard anyone use the word conversate. That would also irritate me. I also don't like to hear people eating. I hate it when my hair touches my neck, which would be why I have had short hair for sooo long! My friends tell me that if I was a child growing up in today's world my parents would have to send me to desensitization therapy. All the little things bug me, noises, stuff touching me etc. Oh, I also hate it when people say that they "stay" somewhere. "That house is where my momma stay" seriously?

I cannot stand when I walk up to an elevator, push the button, stand and wait, and then someone else walks up and pushes the CLEARLY ALREADY LIT button. As if their push has the magic touch. Can't stand it. I also can't stand when I am in an elevator, the doors open, and someone outside walks in the elevator without waiting for the others to exit first. I ride elevators a lot at work. Cleary the lack of elevator etiquette bothers me!

I don't like it when bloggers over use the LOL thing. Some people put it after every damn sentence. Because are they really laughing out loud at every sentence? AHHH!

people use ax instead of ask when they conversate...

teens overuse the word like

commercials are louder then the TV program

I find my kids dirty socks laying around

I'm late or someone else is late

it storms at night. My room looks like it has a strobe light and I can't sleep.

My fan makes a noise when I am trying to sleep. That little tick tick tick that always stops when I get up to fix it. Drives me up the wall.

It grates on my nerves when people pronounce the word "recognize" as "recanize."

(I could go on and on here - but I think I'll leave it at that!)

I too have never heard the word conversate used either. I can not think of a word that irritates me right now, but I know they are out there.

Yeah, ebonics in general irritates the crap out of me.
If you sound like a retard, then people will treat you like one.

I did a blog on what irritates me...and I think I mentioned something about how car dealership commercials SCREAM at us like we're deaf. Even on the radio. Why are they yelling??

Smacking, invasion of personal space by a stranger, and bad driving all irk me to no end.

People who say "supposebly" instead of "supposedly."

People who see my gigantic lanyard with my name and the company's name on it, and then ask me "Do you work here?"

Definitely hearing other people chewing their food.

i'm w/ ya on supposebly and axe. and screaming car dealers

you have to turn dvd's up so loud

gosh. good post. i know i'm missing something i've thought of recently. better axe The Mr. next time we conversate about it!

People who chew with their mouth open. OMG IT IS MY BIGGEST PET PEEVE EVER. Even when KIDS do it. CANNOT STAND IT! Oh and Christy's thing about the LOL- that is annoying. Especially when they don't bother to capitalize it and it looks like lol.

-when people use the words "orientate" or "irregardless". Neither of which are officially words.

-I also hate the LOL thing. I also am not a huge fan of a ton of smilies in posts, though that is more a forum thing than a blog thing. Then again, I could probably be accused of overusing smilies, too.

-bad grammar in any capacity.

-the fact that I had a bunch of other things that I can't stand and now they are gone from my head. As usual.

Knuckle cracking
People who don't pick up their dog's crap

To add to the LOL pet peeve--people who use it directly after an undisguised bitchy and hostile comment. As if that makes it okay.

oooohhhh I cannot stand to hear people eat either. It completely irks me.

But I really cannot stand when people keep lying after they get caught. Really...what is the point?!?

OK, I'm going to sound like such a dork, but I hate it when Alex Trebek is so smug when a Jeopardy contestant misses a question. Like he really would have known that answer if it wasn't in front of him. Now, if the contestant is a jerk, I do reserve the right to yell "Dumbass!" when he/she answers incorrectly.
I also truly hate being behind one of those "Oh-I-need-to-write-a-check?" people at the checkout counters. You know the kind. They buy TONS of stuff and just sit there staring at the clerk while everything gets tallied. Once the person has her total, she then suddenly realizes that she needs to dig through her gargantuan purse to find her checkbook and pen and then takes ten minutes writing the check, making sure to put whatever she is buying in the memo line. Grr.
On another, not so pissy note, there's a surprise for you at my blog!

While I've never heard conversate, I do have a co-worker who says "covenances" rather than "covenants" when we talk about loan packages. Drives me NUTS.

bad grammar and spelling in general irk me, especially on signs! (people pay $$ for these signs and yet noone notices the mistakes? whatever!)

i hear 'conversate' all the time. i hate it too. i also hear 'pacific' when someone means 'specific' and it pains me not to correct them!

i also get freaky about the word BARBECUE. it's not BARBEQUE. bbq is an okay abbreviation, but not bar-b-que. it makes no sense to me. :)

i'm SO MUCH FUN on road trips from nc to alabama. you would not believe the countri-fied (yeah, i know it's not a word!) signage and general poor use of the english language!!!

I don't think I have ever heard that word! Thankfully. But there are a billion things that bug me, especially the hearing people chew thing. My dh loves to chew bubble gum, loudly, ick.

I can't stand when people touch their forks to their teeth while eating. The noise makes my teeth hurt. Sorry to read that hub needs surgery and had to go through all that with the GI bleed. Hope everthing goes well.
