Fishing is fun!

I'm still on the 3-days-of-fun posts....
In those days, I know that we ate out, we swam in the pool, we went to see Despicable Me 2, Medieval Times....and there was fishing!

{I'm hoping that you are all so excited about Gage's catch and the smile on his sweet little face, and haven't noticed that his clothes do not match one bit. He didn't care. Truth be told: neither did I! I see it now in the pictures, but hey, in the moment, he was covered and wasn't fishing naked....that's something.}

...and now for Daddy, I have this:
(And by shopping, I am NOT talking about Home Depot.)

Sunday-Fun-Day....

Remember that I posted about lots of fun in 3 days time? Well, we had Sunday Fun Day during those few days.... It started with church...

After that, we went to lunch locally, and Gage got to have fun at this big indoor fun place near us. It's got indoor bowling, and mini-golf, and an arcade.... lots of fun!

Gage had a blast, and Eliette slept most of the time.... UNTIL.....the "Bad Minion" made her debut! Hahahaha!!!!!!
I LOVE that scrunchy nose picture! Love it!
We actually saw Despicable Me 2 just a day or two before we saw this doll. I jokingly had already called E our "Bad Minion" because of her tendency to be an evening-fussy-pants.... Anyway...I love E. I love the scrunchy nose. I love that I have a picture of that because it was the first time I'd seen her do the scrunchy nose giggle.

Ahhh.....sweet boy...sweet girl.....what more could I ask for!?!?

Medieval Times!

Well....it was kind of a BIG deal for Gage to get to go to Medieval Times...and an even BIGGER deal to go some place WITHOUT his little sister! While we were going to go on a vacation this Summer, Hubby's need for surgery came up just in time to squash those vacation plans. Our week of fun turned into a 3 day fun fest before surgery.... Medieval Times was a part of that plan! Luckily, Eliette has a grandmother who was just itching to watch her for us.

Gage was so excited and he loved Medieval Times sooooo much! {Sidebar: my first time to Medieval Times was when I was in middle school, and I was invited for Julie Dannenberg's birthday party. I remember thinking that it was soooo cool. I was worried about eating with my hands, but it was fun. Going there as an adult---not quite the same magic...I'm just sayin'.... BUT, going and watching my son's excitement was just AWESOME.}

If you haven't been to M.T., let me tell you: it's CROWDED. They wind you through the entrance line to give you your team color and take pictures....regular pictures, then dress-up pictures... then they put you in this big lobby area. {Think: holding tank.} The doors to the arena area are closed. Of course there's over-priced stuff all around to buy, and light-up stuff for kids, etc. You get it....

I could not BELIEVE that we all fit in that area! Being a vertically challenged person myself, I felt even smaller in that crowded space. Hubby held the camera up and took a picture of the crowd for me. (What a good sport!)

Daddy went for the front row seats to ensure that Gage got to really see everything without some 6 foot guy sitting down right in front of him or anything... Thank you, Daddy!

Gage was thrilled to be so close to the horses. It was pretty neat....

Gage really got into the competition and liked watching the events...
His food??? Well....maybe he ate a little...
What's on the M.T. menu?
Tomato soup... chicken... a potato... maybe a roll... an apple pastry...
Beverages: you can have tea or Pepsi. Yes, that's caffeine or caffeine.
...or you can have an adult beverage from the bar {yes, please!}...

As I mentioned, Gage only ate a little...

And in the end, our knight didn't win...but the one who did was quite dramatic making his little poses with the music. It was hysterical!
...and just for fun, Hubby randomly strikes the same pose at the Casa de Lainey-Paney! Ahhh, it makes me laugh!

Pacifier Pal....

Eliette got one of these before she was born:

It has a clear pacifier shaped like the Soothie brand pacifiers (which is what Little Miss currently prefers). We were hesitant to try this right away because of the blanket part on the puppy and Eliette being so small....but now that she's a bit bigger, we've been using it sometimes, and she likes it! It's a binky & a snuggly toy. I hear we need to try the Wubbanub too, but we just haven't yet....

Eliette & her Paci-pal....

Sweet girl!

I suppose we need to come up with some sweet little name for her Puppy-paci-pal....
Suggestions always welcome!
Though I have to say, we typically use the Soothies....we only use our Paci-pal sometimes....but when we pull it out for her to use, she loves it.

So I don't forget...

This blog post is mostly for me...so I don't forget the cuteness....

Hubby sometimes travels for work. In fact, right before Elle was born, he was traveling quite a bit so that when she got here, he was able to stay home for a while. Well, when he finally had to head out of town, it was my first time to solo parent dos ninos.

Gage woke up in the middle of the night and didn't want to be anywhere without me...so he made himself a pallet on floor in the nursery next to the rocker where I was nursing the baby. So cute...

....and this little puffy-cheeked darling? I love my middle of the night feeding with her!
...so when I put the baby back in her crib, I told Gage that he could get back in bed with me. At the next feeding time he woke up with the baby crying, as did I. He said that he would be fine on his own in my bed. When I returned from the 2nd feeding of the night, here's what I found: Gage in bed, with the dog, watching tv and every light in the master area of the house was on. Thank goodness it was Summertime and we didn't have school or anything else going the next morning!

Visiting Mema...

Did I mention here that both of my grandmothers have fallen recently, and they've both been in the hospital, and both had to go into skilled nursing facilities? No??? Well, that's the shortest version of the events....

Mema fell in her bathroom while trying to put away some towels. She broke ribs and hurt her shoulder. Poor Mema.... Little Miss E and I went down to look at nursing facilities with my mom and some of my aunts. Mema was soooooo happy to see Eliette. It was wonderful.

It's hard to see Mema like this....so old and hurting... But, when you bring your baby with you and see how excited she gets about the little ones (and that's what she calls them all, "little one"), it just feels good. It makes you feel good to make her feel good.....

...and Darnin was pretty excited to see her too.
That night, we went home to Mema's house to sleep. Oh....it wasn't easy to get Eliette to sleep that night! She was hellbent on fighting it. Look! She even looks like she wanted to fight!
{"The last person who tried to make me sleep got two of these!"} Feel free to make up your own caption.

She ended up falling asleep in her bouncy, with her lights and sound machine going. She's a fan of the ocean waves setting.

Finally she went to sleep....
So, then I was able to move the bouncy a bit more to the center of the bed and I slept next to her. I didn't sleep super-well, but I slept. I think she only woke twice that night... Good times....

The next day, it was back to the hospital. It was a dreary, rainy day...and Eliette's tummy was making her fussy.
:(

Pics from the day...

We had to hit the road and head back home that afternoon. It was a Sunday, and Daddy was on Gage-duty. {I say "Gage-duty" as if it's a chore...it's  sooooo not. I think they rather enjoyed having a "Guys Weekend" around here...}

...and on the way out of town heading back home I saw this:

Welcome to Texas.
