Gift Ideas...

Gage's 2nd birthday is coming up. This Sunday to be exact.

Family & friends keep asking me for gift suggestions, and I've felt really weird saying, "get Gage this" or "get Gage that..."

So here you all go: a list of various things that I think Gagie-poo would like...and from a varied price range....

Playskool Bounce N Go Inch Along, $39.99 @ Toys R Us

Little Touch LeapPad system. We have a game/book for one of theses systems...but never got the system.
$29.99 @ Toys R Us

Elmo's Laptop (b/c Mommy loves her laptop, Gage may like to have one of his own...)
$29.99 at Toys R Us

To organize all those bath time favorites. (Okay, so maybe this is more for Mommy than for Gage....but, it will hold HIS stuff!) $24.99 @ Toys R Us

Shopping cart & play groceries...
One thing you might hear out of Gage's mouth....a lot: "Ona go tha store 'gin."
THAT'S MY BOY! Anywhooooo...he got a mini-kitchen, and so food/shopping cart stuff would be great.
$19.99 @ Toys R Us

Anything Scooby Doo.... These are the little Scooby Doo action figures at Toys R Us, $14.99

Soccer Ball...Gage has a soccer goal with a teeny ball that came with the goal set. He doesn't have a regular sized soccer ball. I think he'd enjoy one... $14.99 @ Toys R Us

Curious George toys....this one is a wind up boat toy for use in the tub....(or in his new water & sand table!) $9.99 @ Toys R Us

Tub Tunes Water Xylophone, $9.99 at Toys R Us. How cool is that---it floats!

Anything with wheels....I tell ya...Baby Gage loves Matchbox cars. I've bought other cars, bigger in his hands...they're okay for a while....but it's the matchbox cars (or matchbox sized cars) that his little hands go back to! $6.99 @ Toys R Us

That's right---it's the Tonka Sanitation Truck. Gage has this book---his favorite book ever, called "Trucks" by Byron Barton. There is a garbage truck in that book, and Gage gets very excited & looks for the trash truck....so, a trash truck would make him happy. $5.99 @ Toys R Us

Anything related to Happy Feet. OMG, how our child loves that movie. We rented it one day on pay per view.... "Piggies dance". He knows that they are penguins, and he calls a pig a pig---but he can't seem to say "penguin", so he calls them "piggies."
These are tapping feet like Mumble; $5.25 (on sale!) at Toys R Us

Okay....now SURELY that's enough to get everyone an idea, or at least get you to brainstorming!
...and now....now I want to go to the freaking toy store & buy a ton of toys!

Anyway, I really hope this was helpful to those of you who were asking, "what should we get Gage????"
We are just hoping to have a great birthday with cake & fun & pictures!

:)

absolutely ridiculous. you might as well start a registry.

all this for a 2nd birthday?

don't invite me to the wedding!

nobody said that I expected all of these things.
good lord.

...and when you have almost every adult who is invited asking me to tell them what to buy---screw you, but I'll post what I want to post. When most of my friends don't have kids of their own---they don't know what he'll be into.

I NEVER said, "hey, family & friends, I expect the following..."
so....um, go annoy someone else.

...and besides, "anonymous", I could never invite you to the wedding if you don't even reveal who you are.
In the future, if you don't like something I have to say, then feel free to leave.

Thanks.
It was just RANDOM sh*t that I thought my child would like, douchebag.

i'm with you, lainey. it's your post. your blog. there's no reason to dispute what you choose to do.

now, i have a question... (and these toys & gadgets look fun, btw!)

is anyone planning on having a potty party?? i'm torn on this issue.

I love those toys! I love the frog bath thing.

I'd love for all my friends and family to do this for their kids' birthdays. It's difficult to know what to get.

Anonymous pissed me off.

So how does he like his sand and water table? I should just come to your house and let Zak try out toys before buying any for him.

wow anonymous. seriously, wow.

i've been coveting that froggy bath toy holder everytime i get a catalog w/ it in there!

i think its a great thing to have these ideas...it is hard to know what different kids will really love.

lol @ "douchebag"! =)

2nd anon back- yes. a potty party is to help celebrate their first potty moment.

talking about gage's party got me thinking about that.

i can't decide if i like that idea or not.

and good luck on the bday this weekend. sure gage will have a blast! but, if he's like mine, he'll just excited about the boxes!

so there's something you didn't put on your list... a big empty box! ha

How cool that you have ideas for people. I never knew and ended up getting things with 9 million pieces that I would find all over the house years later or very loud toys like drums and something that sang songs at extreme decibels.

Good ideas. Rach's birthday is Friday. Everything she wants is at least 30 to 50$. Ow.

River would love that shopping cart and I would love that bath organizer!

Oh, and you know you're popular when you get a troll LOL!

UGH! Seriously Anonymous if you read lainey's blog you would KNOW she never expects anyone to buy her son these toys. You are pathetic ansd have no common sense to write something like that.

Lainey, as a Godmother to a 5 year old boy...I NEVER KNOW WHAT TO BUY HIM for birthday and Christmas!!! So i have to grill his mom. And yes I do know my godson and spend time with him but kids these days have so much stuff that I want to make sure I get something he likes and will use.

Hope Gage's party is a blast! Have fun!

Wow, I am dreading the anonymous negative comment I surely will get one day, if I ever get more readers!
That is so rude.
My kids always end up with a bunch of dumb toys they don't ever play with especially at Christmas as we don't talk often with the relatives we spend it with. I think it is perfectly resonable to tell people who ask what Gage will like. Because unless they have a 2 year old boy they most likely don't have a clue.

Oh, but the xylophone thingy. I gave in and got it for Reid. Those yellow stick things HURT and ALL the little metal thingys come off and all the foam thingys come apart. So...our water xylophone has been inthe tub once, I've been whacked in the head about 20 times, so now the sticks are hidden, and all the little pieces are in various places around the house.

If you get that toy for Gages birtdhay, send it to Anon #1 to deal with :)
