A little bit of this...a little bit of that...

Happy Monday.

So....this is a random post that will probably ramble about a bunch of random stuff.

Had a wedding to go to over the weekend, but it was in Weatherford on Saturday night. I had to go to Tyler on Saturday morning to get Gage...so he slept the whole way home, and was awake when we pulled into the drive...needless to say, he did NOT get his nap out, so, he had to go back down for a bit. And...I mean just a teeny tiny bit....so, the evening hours were rough....we didn't make it to the wedding.
So---Hillary....I'm sorry that I missed your wedding! (not that she reads this...)

Sunday morning...Gage had some scrambled eggs, "bank" (bacon), and toast with "lello" (jelly). He holds the toast parrallel to his face, slams it into his face, and eats all of the jelly off. Then, when there's no more jelly, he removes jelly from the toast of others using nothing but his hands---spreads the stolen jelly on his soggy toast piece, and keeps on going until his nostrils are clogged with purple jelly & flap in & out as he breathes.
It's both cute & disgusting.

Sunday...we took Baby Gage swimming. He had a good time, but 2 hours was the perfect amount of time for both Daddy & Gage.
Oh, and Daddy just threw a fit when Mommy tried to lay out & get some sun for a bit...oh no....it was Mommy's big idea to go swimming...she's going to swim dammit.
Um...screw that. Gage wanted Daddy, Daddy, Daddy in the pool. Apparently Mommy's just not as fun. And besides....on my 4 days off during the week---he's attached to me like...well, like a baby to its Mama! So, I welcome the breaks when I'm not his favorite person for the moment. [now, come snuggle time before bed---he better want me back!]

Anyway.... then Gage went down for a nap when we got home, and so did Daddy. I worked on putting laundry away.
OH! So....recently through being pregnant, and then losing the baby, etc.... I was really really really tired a lot. So...the laundry got done, but never folded. So, in the end, I had about 20 loads of clean clothes in my dining room. I totally ran out of baskets & clothes were then put in chairs...& on the table...and Gage drug them to a huge pile on the floor (which was clean since my mom came to visit & loves to sweep). Anyway...on Friday night, since Gage was still out of town, instead of going for a motorcycle ride, we cleaned house. (also, the tv & internet were still out...) So, while I cleaned the kitchen, and bathroom, and did a bunch of random putting away stuff...Damon folded ALL of those clothes & put away his clothes & towesls & stuff..... It took about 2 or 3 hours....

So...on Sunday, while they were napping, I was cleaning our bedroom, putting away my clothes.
We recently got a new tv & we put it in the bedroom. Damon is so in love with it. Me---I'm like, "whatever." I seriously could care less. I'm kind of under the impression that upgrading tvs is a total waste of money, as long as the one you've got still works.
But no....now he's got his super-flat mounted to the wall, fabulous HD tv that he wanted.
And then there's me....not knowing how to work the damn thing, & since we got the new AT&T u-verse stuff....I don't even know which freakin' clicker to use to work what. I just start pushing buttons in there to see what happens, and generally just watch whatever is on the screen when I finally get a picture.

Now in the living room---no problem. I can work that little system...but all of this fancy-schmancy techno shit is not for me.

So...while cleaning my bedroom a few things occured to me:
(1) right now, I have no lampshades. We switched rooms & color schemes & so the old lampshades no longer work for us. I've searched hi & lo, and every once in a while I will find a lampshade I love! And....it's only ONE. I need two. The lamps are on the nightstands & I want them to match. Or....sometimes I'll find lamps for sale with lovely lampshades, but I don't want to buy two new lamps just to get the lampshades.
(2) right now, our bedroom furniture does not match. For anyone who really knows me---you know how much this bothers me, right??? The master bath/closet remodel is a slow project, and we need the clothing storage between now & when the project is finished. But, we wanted this new bed when we saw it on sale....I guess for President's Day. So, the bed is a different finish than the dresser & nightstands.
I have been looking for the nightstands that I have pictured in my mind to go with my bed....& I finally found something similar, but they're $800+ each. Um...I need two. And, I wouldn't spend $1600.00 on nightstands...hell, I wouldn't spend the $800 even if that covered both of them! Not gonna do it... So, I'll keep looking. I can always go back to the furniture store where we bought the bed & get matching pieces there....but I was looking for something a little different...we'll just see.
(3) since switching rooms...we have not put anything on the walls in our bedroom except two items: the new tv, and a golf thing that Melissa & Colin gave Damon for Christmas. Other than that, the walls are bare.

We've got lots of nooks & crannies that are just filled with sh*t we no longer use. I really need to sort through stuff, clean out closets, and contact a local charity. It's just soooooooo hard to do all of that stuff with a baby. You can't sort things into piles with him around because in his mind, if he sees it, it's his. He may carry it all about the house or throw it. And he NEEEEEEEEDS to hold everything.

...except bugs.
Gage is afraid of bugs. It's so funny to me.
He wants to crouch down & watch them sometimes when he feels particularly brave...but he's not going to hold it or touch it.

What else???
My aunt Wanda is sick. She has shingles....& they're in her EYES! ouch.

I have my f/u OB appointment on Wednesday. I'm so not looking forward to that. I love my OB & their staff, so that's not a problem. I don't mind getting checked out in that general region to make sure I'm healing properly, etc.
But...the last time I had to take Gage with me to that doctor's office...he was a total sh*t. Not the poster child for procreation. All the pregnant women in the office were just looking around like, "what have I gotten myself into?" Yeah...it was bad. I just emailed my friend Susan to see if maybe she can go with me to watch Gage while I'm in the exam room [hey, Susan...if you're reading this---go check your email.] We'll see how it goes....

Oreo now makes a snack cake.
They are so good. The come wrapped in little 2-packs. They should come individually wrapped because they are sooooooooo sweet that 2 is just way too sweet.

That's about all I know for now...

okay couldn't find your email so i'll write you here. first of all, last year for brandons first birthday he got a smaller quad, its called a lil kawasaki and it was a small 6 volt one made by power wheels. he has been riding that around since he was one. This year my parents upgraded him to the other one. I'm not sure of the brand I think it may still be power wheels its just a larger version. His first one was about a foot and a half tall and had a button you push on the handle, that one was actually harder because pushing the button would cause him to steer one way. The new one actually has a foot pedal like a regular power wheels and sine he just uses his foot for that one it doesnt interfere with steering. However there is a super boost on one of the handles. After we thought he was doing good enough with the slow speed of the foot pedal we taught him how to super boost it..enter helmet!

i think the easiest way to judge would be to see if he can reach the foot pedal, if so you should be fine. with out pushing the super boost (and you have to show him or they wouldn't even know its there) they go slow enough that you can just walk beside them and help steer and stuff.

next. The bath thingies are by crayola. They were purchased at Target. The octopus spout cover is called Ozzie the octopus. It comes with three color tablets kinda like the things in easter egg dye. They didn't stain the tub or Brandon at all. My friend also got me the extra pack of color tablets and you can make different colors. what you do is in the mouth of the octopus you put in the tablets you want and the water runs over them and the water comes out of the tentacles. IT was really fun and BRandon loved it. They also got us Crayola bath crayons so he could draw all over the tub and then it seriously wiped right off. I just used his washcloth at the end of the bath and one swipe and it disappeared. It also did not stain the towel or anything else. I recommend this product!

Love that picture of you!
Good luck with the home decorating - I find that to be such an endless, frustrating chore (although I know many women love it...)

Just had a random thought when I saw you went to Tyler...I grew up in Jacksonville. My dad was the Methodist preacher there and my parents live on Lake Jacksonville now (he is teaching at Lon Morris college and my mom is just busy in everything). They go to Tyler about twice a week for pretty much everything. Why they didn't just move to Tyler, I have no clue. They are there all the time.

Anyway, you mentioned going to Tyler to get Gage - just brought back a bunch of old memories (first dates, prom shopping, etc).

I would totally watch the kiddo for you if we lived in the same place.

Also, you're totally nuts. Those oreo things rock and I can totally handle the package as is...maybe I'm nuts!?

I can't even imagine trying to redecorate with a toddler! Little Elvis can't walk yet, and it's difficult to do my minor room changes! Very impressive!

Maybe you and I should start taking turns watching each other's boys. I hated having to take Zakary to get my neither regions checked. Nothing like having a doctor pocking down there while trying to keep a toddler out of all the drawers and cabinets.

I seen those oreo snack cakes at the store the other day. They look yummy.

I have to take Porgie to all my OB appointments. Sometimes she is wonderful, and sometimes she is a brat. So, I feel your pain.

I hope you survive the appointment with lots of extra TLC...and I was LMAO at your remark about the husband and the pool...I get that all the time. It was your idea, or if I have to suffer...dammit you better suffer too. ; )

You would totally DIE if you saw my bedroom furniture. Everything is donated from someone, nothing really matches. It looks very...eclectic. But, to be honest, I love it.

I also have a set of nice china that matches but I insist on using the pieces that I have picked up in thrift stores over the years. This means that I often have mismatched plates on the table. I had a friend come over for dinner recently and she commented that "You are so totally interesting and random..."

I think she was trying to say that I am just plain weird.

love the photo, and the description of Gage eating jelly toast. I can totally picture it in my head! :)

Hope your OB appt goes well and that things turn out the way you want them to. misbehaved kids in an OB office are actually kind of funny... They freak out first time parents and bring reminiscent terror to those who have older kids and are going for a sibling.

I LOVE the picture!! Let me make you feel instantly better about the blank walls in your bedroom. I have been in my apt for 2 years and I have NOTHING on the wall. I'm so bad at this! But I did have my big 50 inch HD, big screen TV a month after I moved in. LOL! It was a gift from my dad plus I needed it for football season! LOL!
