Our "Elf on the Shelf"Adventures, 2013.

So, we were very hesitant to jump onto the "Elf on the Shelf" bandwagon. Gage is so....cautious, if you will. He has never been a big fan of Santa. He doesn't care for the Tooth Fairy. He's okay with the Easter Bunny because as far as he's concerned, the Easter Bunny "doesn't break into your house for anything." Truly. Our son will tell you, "Santa breaks into your house while you're sleeping. He eats up your cookies and drinks your milk." Eventually he gets to the part where he mentions Santa leaving a shit-ton of gifts, but for the most part, it's all about this fat man breaking into your home. Clearly, the Tooth Fairy is worse because that bitch comes into your room while you sleep, reaching her hand up under your pillow and stuff... You can bet that every time he loses a tooth, he sleeps with Mommy and Daddy. He has NO DESIRE to run  into those magical creatures on his own.

So....like I mentioned, we were hesitant to start the whole "the Elf is watching you" type thing around here.

....until he asked for one.
...until the season was in full swing and they were suddenly hard to find.

BUT-----Nordstrom pulled through! I found TWO one evening. Perfect: a boy & a girl. Overdoing it? Well, I know that there is no way that Gage was going to be down with a girl elf only....AND, how many more years do we having with Gage really getting into the whole Santa-Elf-magical holiday things??? So, I got two. I got them each one. Hubby's response? "Of course you did." {Whatever. He loves me. ...or he tolerates me, at the very least.}

We introduced the Elves when we were at Damon's mom's celebrating Christmas with that side of the family.... After the gift opening and fun, some letters magically appeared in the tree....

Yes, I'm recording it on my cell. He read the little letter and Eliette was asleep in my arms, so I was kind of stuck in the chair.

When we got back home that evening, he named the elves...
He used his and his sister's middle names for the names of the elves. Pretty cute, I think!

...and sooo.....here are some of our Elf on the Shelf adventures from 2013:

In the end, the elves had to leave, and they left a quick little note for the kids with their rolled up sleeping bags...
